One headline in BBC news reads, "Arctic has 9bn barrels of oil". With some US politicians pushing hard for off-shore drilling and the rising oil prices, this increasing interest in the oil under the Arctic is rather worrying for environmental and ethical reasons. Given that the oil's located in the Arctic, 'who' does the oil 'belong' to? What about the wildlife? Sure, the rising oil prices have hurt everybody, some just more than others, some life-styles more than others. I think the problem is, everyone's looking at the dwindling oil supplies and trying to look for *more*, but what about looking at how we spend this oil and seeing if we can cut back unnecessary usage?
My question is: do you think it's all right to cut back on aspects of our consumerism if it meant conservation of the earth's resources?
