Knowing her, this would probably not be enough... Maybe if I just said I suck at photoshop so badly this took me the better part of about 40 minutes, she'd think better of my effort? Anybody got a good book/site to recommend?

yeah, heard of picnik. But trying to be hardcore, must learn /the/ image editing program...
